Domaine Jones

Overview

Katie Jones makes daringly different wines from daringly different grapes. She looks for vineyards that most other growers in the area wouldn’t be interested in. The sites are small, remote with low yielding, very old, traditional bush vines, some over 100 years.

The philosophy at Domaine Jones is to vinify the vineyards separately, rather than mixing, to be sure of the quality coming from each.

Katie bought her first vineyard in 2008 and now has a modest 12 hectares of vines spread across vineyards in Maury, Paziols and Tuchan. She only grows traditional grape varieties, some of them extremely rare - including Carignan, Grenache Noir, Lledoner Pelut and Syrah for reds and Grenache Gris, Grenache Blanc, Macabeu, Muscat and Carignan Gris for whites.

“Nicky was a star supporting me with the rambles, helping me spread the word, coming up with new content ideas and inspiring me to keep on going.

We had many late night chats about the theme of the next day's ramble, and Nicky did a great job of making sure all the journalists knew about my rambles and inviting them to ‘guess the wine.”

Campaign Highlights

Katie Jones invited her community of fans to join her every weekday morning at 7.30 am UK time for a virtual tour of her vineyards via instagram live.

A 15-minute daily ramble through the vineyards checking the vines, identifying the different grape varieties, exploring the flora and the fauna, discovering the highs and lows of making wine in rural France.

Smith & Vine supported with content ideas, creative materials, PR and social media support. And I attended every single of the rambles bar one, there were around 200 in total!
