Bodegas y Vinedos Catena

Overview

The story of Catena is the story of Argentine wine.

Founded in 1902, Argentina’s Bodega Catena Zapata is known for its pioneering role in resurrecting Malbec and in discovering extreme high altitude terroirs in the Andean foothills of Mendoza.

The family’s Adrianna Vineyard at almost 5,000 feet elevation has been called the Grand Cru of South America.

The Catena Institute of Wine, in conjunction with the Catena Enology and Viticulture team, has the ambitious mission of making Argentine wines that can stand with the best of the world and of advancing Argentina’s winemaking regions for another 100 years.

“Nicky takes the time to understand our wines, our vision and our family. And then she helps us to find the best approach to communicate what we are trying to say. She is the best at her craft!”

— Dr Laura Catena

Campaign Highlights

Smith & Vine recently co-ordinated the UK campaign around the release of the Catena Institute’s groundbreaking terroir webinar and research paper (February 2021).

Following the publication, Smith & Vine helped Catena to organise an international webinar on Terroir in June 2021, hosted by Laura Catena and an illustrious panel of researchers, with 470 attendees, resulting in numerous media articles internationally.

Ongoing campaign work includes generating publicity and awareness for the Catena portfolio of wines, as well as profile raising for Laura Catena and the wider wine-making team. Working closely with Laura Catena and the Catena PR team, Smith & Vine develops new stories and media projects.
