Bosman Nero

Overview

NERO is the first and only South African wine to be made from the Sicilian variety Nero d’Avola. NERO was born from Bosman’s mission to find a resilient vine to thrive in the Cape Winelands’ increasingly hot, water-scarce climate, as a result of rising global temperatures.

NERO is owned by Bosman Bakoena Brands, a partnership between Bosman & Bakoena.  Petrus Bosman, a white farmer from the Cape Winelands and Thapelo Mokoena, a black actor based in the city of Johannesburg. 

Petrus and Thapelo have similar African roots, both born on a farm, family men, working hard to make the world a better place for them and others to live.   This is a special and unique partnership where both partners actively contribute, Bosman is responsible for production and Thapelo for the marketing, creating the pull for NERO.

Campaign Highlights

Supporting the Bosman NERO launch at Sainsbury’s in Spring 2021, working with the Bosman team to inject energy and excitement into the South Africa category, driving messages of resilience and positive change.

The Nero launch campaign has so far generated 42 pieces of coverage (since launch in March 2021) reaching a total of 2,232,739 people across trade and consumer media, including broadcast.

A highlight was Nero featuring on BBC Saturday KItchen Easter Special and as a direct result of the show saw  a 395% increase in sales on previous week. 

Nero also featured in The drinks business, Harpers Wine and Spirit, Drinks Retailing News, BBC Focus on Africa, Tim Atkin’s Wine of the Week, Olly’s Trolley in the Mail+, Decanter Mid Week Wines, Platinum Magazine, Jamie Goode’s Wine Anorak, Daily Star, Manchester Evening News, Liverpool Echo amongst others.
